Today we will talk about how to get from the airport to Milan, because it is from the air terminal that another exciting journey begins. By the way, there are three airports in Milan at once, from which you can get there in several ways. But we are only interested in the Malpensa international terminal, on the landing strip of which planes from Russia regularly arrive.

The airport is located 40 km from the city center and you can cover this considerable distance both by public transport and by ordering a transfer at the hotel where you plan to stay. Let's consider all the ways to travel on your own in more detail.

A train

The fastest and most popular way to leave the bustling lounges of Malpensa Airport behind and head towards the fascinating countryside of Milan is by train. In order to get on the Malpensa Express suburban express carriage, you should proceed to a special platform, which is located directly inside the first terminal. On average, trains leave every 30 minutes, but it is better to check the timetable in advance using the website malpensaexpress.it.

It will not be difficult to buy an express ticket. For tourists and guests of Milan, the prudent Italians have installed special machines where you can pay in cash or by credit card. If you are not in a hurry, and also if you are not a confident user of such devices, you can also use the usual railway ticket office, to the window of which you can simply follow the informative signs.

There are also some nuances that must be taken into account. For example, you must validate your ticket before boarding. This can be done in composters, which are colored yellow.

Travel time will take no more than 40 minutes. Of course, you cannot call such a high-speed trip, but on the other hand, you can fully enjoy the picturesque views from the window of a comfortable carriage. Also, the duration and cost of travel is influenced by which of the two stations you want to leave the train.

In particular, the Milano Cadorna station, which is located in close proximity to one of the most amazing Milanese attractions - Sforza Castle - can be reached for 11 euros. And the second stop is the final one and the trip to it will cost only 7 euros.

Bus

An alternative form of public transport that will easily take you to the center of the Italian town is the bus. The main advantages of this method of getting from the airport are that the bus route passes by many famous hotels and attractions. Therefore, if you're lucky, you can drive straight to the hotel where you booked your room. All buses arrive at the central bus station, from which, if necessary, you can continue your journey in any direction.

But there are also shortcomings in Milan's commuter buses. If the journey by train takes only 40 minutes, then the bus will have to travel at least 60 minutes. Although the fare is practically the same and averages 10 euros.

But for those tourists for whom Malpensa is only an intermediate stop and there is a need to quickly and cheaply get to Linate airport, or, in general, Turin is chosen as the final destination of your trip, there is no better way to overcome the distance between them than by bus. In particular, you can get from Malpensa to Linate for just 13 euros directly, and you can get into the city limits of Turin for 18 euros, and the travel time will be about two hours.

You can find out the schedule and cost of tickets for different directions on the official website of the carrier - malpensashuttle.it.

Taxi

But it's impossible to say unequivocally that a taxi ride will save time and nerves. Be that as it may, but in less than 45-50 minutes, no taxi driver in Milan will be able to take you to the city center. And you can't call such a budget trip. Since you will have to pay for each kilometer of the journey, the fare for different companies will be approximately the same. Depending on the destination, a taxi will cost at least 75-90 euros one way. The only advantage of this type of transport is the increased comfort and delivery, which is called "to the door of the hotel."

We hope you have no more questions about how to get from the airport to Milan. As you can see, there is a good selection of travel options. Each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages.
